FAQs

What is Universal Destinations & Experiences planning in North Texas?

We are planning a one-of-a-kind concept to inspire fun for families with young children. The new park concept, set in a lush green landscape and featuring immersive themed lands, celebrates Universal’s iconic brand of entertainment, humor and innovation and brings to life its beloved characters and stories in ways that will wow even the youngest theme park goers..

Who is this park for?

This all-new, unique park would be designed specifically for families with young children.

What will the park feature?

The proposed park will be designed to be more intimate and engaging for younger audiences and be full of family-friendly attractions, interactive and playful shows, character meet and greets, unique merchandise and fun food and beverage venues. The proposed park also has plans for an adjacent themed hotel.

Is there a name?

Names are part of our creative process and we look forward to sharing details at a later time.

Why Frisco?

North Texas is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country and it is centrally located – allowing us to reach an entirely new part of the country. The city of Frisco has also had tremendous success attracting businesses to the area and is a great place to raise a family, making it a natural fit for this new concept.

How big will the new concept park be?
Universal owns 97 acres of land for the planned development and the park will occupy roughly a third of that space. The size leaves us plenty of room to build a park, hotel, parking areas, and a thoughtful exit and entrance plan with room for possible expansion.
How many rooms will be featured in the hotel?
We are currently planning a 300-room themed hotel based on Universal characters and stories.
What is the new park’s projected impact to Frisco?
Projects of this kind bring great value to local communities across many dimensions, including the ability to generate tax revenue, create jobs and support other businesses.
Where will the new park be located?
The proposed location is ideally situated east of the Dallas North Tollway and north of Panther Creek Parkway
What are the operating hours?
The operating hours will vary based on time of year and the season and will be appropriate for a park focused on young children and their families.
What will be peak day attendance and average day attendance?
We expect the reaction to this park to be extremely positive and popular. Throughout our parks, we thoughtfully manage attendance to ensure a high-quality guest experience.
How many jobs will this new concept create?
We estimate this will result in several thousand jobs ranging from construction roles to build the park to operations roles and leadership positions once the park opens.
What is Universal doing to protect nearby neighborhoods?

Universal Destinations & Experiences is carefully crafting the design of the park to serve the surrounding community, creating an entrance off Dallas North Tollway, directing traffic away from any existing development and including natural sound barriers.

In all our parks around the world, we strive to be a good neighbor and carefully craft the design of the park to serve the surrounding area. The Frisco park is at a size and scale appropriate for its audience – young families – which will minimize any potential visual and sound intrusion.

Is this really going to be just for kids?
This all-new concept will be specifically designed for families with young children. It will be more intimate and engaging for a younger audience. The park will welcome all to experience a new concept and enjoy Universal’s iconic brand of immersion, storytelling and entertainment.
What will this project do to local traffic conditions?
Universal is carefully crafting the design of the park to serve the surrounding community, creating an entrance off Dallas North Tollway and directing guest traffic away from existing development. We continue to work closely with City of Frisco transportation officials. According to a traffic comparison done by the city, the proposed park will generate less traffic than other developments that could be built on the property, like retail, office, or multi-family. And, it will generate less weekday traffic than H-E-B, Stonebriar Centre and Collin College.
Will noise or light be an issue?
This proposed park will be vastly different from Universal’s existing parks in the U.S. in Orlando and Hollywood – in size and in scale of the experiences. This park will be appropriately designed for its intended audience – families with young children. We are also planning lush landscape and natural sound barriers within and around the park that will minimize sound and light intrusion.
